2013 Maine Nursing Summit

The 12th Maine Nursing Summit a Success!

Nearly 300 nurses from around the state and from all settings converged in Augusta today to attend the 12th Maine Nursing Summit. The focus of the event, cosponsored by Maine Hospital Association, ANA-Maine, Maine Health Care Organization, and the Coalition of Maine Nursing Organizations (COMNE), was "Nurses as Leaders in the Future of Healthcare." The keynote presentation was delivered by Linda Burnes Bolton, DrPH, RN, FAAN, Vice President for Nursing and Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Nursing Research at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Dr. Burnes Bolton, one of the nation's top nurse leaders, shared with members of the audience that health care has never held more promise for nurses with the right combination of education, credentials and critical thinking skills.

In summarizing the day, Donna DeBlois, RN, BSW, MSB, AHAC, President of OMNE and Executive Director of Kno-Wal-Lin Homecare and Hospice in Rockland stated that, "We intend for nurses to serve as role models who will inspire their peers to become leaders in enhancing the quality of health care, ensuring the standards of nursing and expanding opportunities in the profession."

Attendees received 4.5 contact hours with the activity number 13-006-1. Please fill this number in on your Continuing Nursing Education form from ANA Maine.
